Card authentication

Am currently overseas with platinum zero MasterCard - have notified BankWest and turned off SMS verification as we are uncontactable by phone. Yesterday I tried to book ferry tickets online (approx 130 euros) and was told that BankWest would not authenticate my card. My other credit card worked fine no verification or authentication required. Later I booked Italian train tickets (45 euros) which went through ok.

In what situations will BankWest not authenticate my card and why? What else can be done to make sure it doesn't happen again? It's frustrating that a credit card marketed for travellers is having issues with overseas usage.

Hi @Hdpevans, thanks for contacting us in regards to this and I'm sorry to hear of your experience. For security reasons we can't access or discuss your accounts so I'm unable to see what's happened here. We do have some security measures in place that can stop transactions that appear to be unusual or a risk to your card. Unfortunately we can't guarantee this would not happen again, as every transaction is different.
