Apple Pay

When will Bankwest add Apple Pay here in Australia. On twitter and other places they say “it’s coming”, “we’re looking into it” etc. But this has been going for the last 3 years at least. Plenty of other Australian banks have taken it on and ANZ has had it for ages. (And even smaller banks have it!). Yet we’re still waiting. And US, Europe and other places have it also. Why is there such a delay when plenty of customers are requesting it, and plenty more leaving Bankwest to go elsewhere. As a loyal customer for over 32 years even I am now considering switch to a bank that offer Apple Pay. Please consider implementing Apple Pay by end of this year.

Kind regards

Hi

I find your response quite surprising given that Apple Pay has now been around for several years and the only comment Bankwest can give is “at present we don't have any updates on Apple Pay, however as soon as we do we'll make sure we update you”.  I would have thought in this day and age of “customer service” that Bankwest would surely see that a lot of your customer base want to use Apple Pay, and have been requesting it for sometime now. ANZ amongst many smaller banks can process Apple Pay, yet Bankwest can’t. I am a little disappointed in this “standard line of response” and I know from other Bankwest customers they are also waiting as well. I can only wait so long before other banks start looking very attractive.

To me it look likes the Bankwest is discriminating their customer that want to use the Apple Pay technology, which also work in several countries around the world. Maybe this is a “discrimination” case for ACCC to investigate.

Kind regards

Peder

How is the setting up of Applepay going?

While I'm a Bankwest customer with a Bankwest Qantas card, an iPhone and Series 3 Apple watch, my wife has a Bendigo Bank Qantas card.  Bendigo Bank has just announced compatability with Applepay, with no cost for an additiional card on her account.  Should I be getting an additional card on her account to make use of Applepay, or is it coming to Bankwest soon (she would enjoy having the points in her name)?

By the way, I did have an ANZ card that I used for Applepay, but for various reasons, I have just closed that account.

Hi @RP_AP, I would really love to be able to give you a timeframe for Apple Pay, and I can understand why you are so keen to get it! At this stage, we don't have any updates or information to share, however as soon as we do we will make sure to update our customers.

Hi @LyndsC, thanks for monitoring the thread and responding. I've registered for the forum explicitly to add my voice to the chorus.

To highlight my personal situation, my brother works for a competing large bank that already offers this service and is making a pretty compelling case to give them my credit card business. If I like what I see I've no reservations about sending my mortgage and other services there too.

In an age where changing financial providers is easier than ever, consumers are fickle and the millennial purchasing mentality encourages punishing companies that can't keep up; I can't see why you wouldn't be making this a huge priority or at least publicly advertising that it's in the works.

My phone is provided by my employer and as such I have no option to use an android handset. I crave convenience and transparency in the organisations I deal with, and right now I feel I'm getting neither.

Please refer this up the food chain because you're really missing a beat here, guys. Thanks for reading.

Can we at least know where on the development list it is and what can be done to expedite/escalate?
