I want to make sure I am eligible for travel insurance on my credit card - but I need a little more to reach the $500 minimum (after booking flights). If I book a hotel, I won't be charged by the hotel until checkout. I believe the terms and conditions implies that booking and paying before leaving Australia is required.
How do I use hotels as part of my travel bookings minimum when they don't charge me until after?

Hi @Amarant, thanks for your enquiry.
Providing you have spent at least $500 of pre-paid travel expenses on the card, and have a return airfare before leaving, then you should still be eligible for the Travel Insurance. It may just be best to speak with Allianz Global Assist to verify if they will accept pre-booked, but not pre-paid accommodation - their number is 1800 785 918. This is because although Bankwest provide the insurance, Allianz are the underwriters of the policy and therefore will be able to confirm that you will meet the criteria, and advise exactly what will be covered.

I called the Allianz Global Assist and they were very clear. All spending must be done before you leave you leave home to qualify for the insurance.
