I travel overseas from 29 Nov - 02 Jan 2020. Recently bankwest advised of some changes to the travel insurance starting 09 December. In particular, prior to 9 December one needed to have spent a minimum of $500 towards their travel expenses to qualify. However, starting 9 December 2019, that minimum spend requirement has been removed and one now has automatic cover provided they meet the other conditions e.g. an eligible active card.
My question is supposing I experience circumstances requring me to claim post 9 December, do I need to have met eligibility requirements prior to my travel on 29 Nov or am I governed by the standing requirements, i.e. no minimum spend?
Second question is since the new conditions only cover for 30 days and my trip is 33 days total, does that mean I am ineligible or is the 30 days counted from the point I claim to when i travelled overseas?
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your help.

Hi @blessngwe05, thanks for your query.
If you're travelling after 09/12/2019, but before 09/12/2020 – you'll still be eligible for the current cover in all it's forms (provided you've already met the criteria - prior to 09/12/2019). If it’s outside of this, then the new cover will apply.
This link should help if you have any further questions, otherwise you can give Covermore a call on 1300 468 340. As they are the providers of the insurance they'll be able to confirm the finer details with you
Hope this helps!
