Cards use in China

Hi. My Bankwest More Platinum credit card and Debit card are not accepted in Beijing. So far I have tried them on 3 restaurants. Any suggestion?

Okay, the Mastercard does work on more established places. We had a meal at a 4* hotel where we stayed but initially it was declined. The waitress tried it on a different device at the check in counter, bingo no problems. Also yesterday at Labrang (Gansu prov) both the Mastercard and Debit card works.
