PayID Scam email - is it a scam itself?

We've received an email purporting to be from BankWest saying the following;  The email address is from no-reply@edm.bankwest.com.au - email address looks dodgy with the edm bit and I can't find anything about it on the website - does anyone have any info?

We are proactively contacting you as some of your personal information may have been disclosed to a third party through a sophisticated PayID scam at another financial institution’s website.

The information disclosed may include your PayID, customer name, mobile number, BSB and account number.

Importantly, none of our Bankwest systems were breached and your bank accounts remain safe.

We take the security of your information very seriously and as a result have increased our security monitoring on your accounts.

Our No Loss Security Guarantee protects you from unauthorised transactions on personal and business accounts when you take the necessary steps to stay safe online, which includes:

keeping your Personal Access Number (PAN) and secure code a secret

immediately letting us know about the loss, theft or misuse of your login details, and any suspicious activity on your account.

What does this mean for you?

Please be mindful of any suspicious activity on your account/s and let us know if you see a transaction you don’t recognise.

Remember, we'll never ask you for your banking information by email, call or text message.

We’re here to help.

For more information visit our dedicated web page or if you notice any suspicious activity on your account call us on 1300 668 998.

Thanks,
Bankwest
