The new $5 note as part of the Next Generation Banknote (NGB) rollout has been in circulation since 1 September 2016. Have you got one yet? Read on for details on the ‘Top-to-Bottom Window’ security feature.

About the feature

The window is seamlessly integrated in the banknote. There are multiple security features contained within the top-to-bottom window, which is bordered by depictions of the Prickly Moses wattle (Acacia verticillata subsp. ovoidea).

Did you know?

  • The new $5 banknote has a ‘world-first’ feature – it’s the first one to feature a window that spans from the top to the bottom of the banknote.

There’s more info and imagery to see on the RBA website. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Unsure if the banknote you’ve got is legit? Check out these steps on what to do if you’re just not sure.
