HI @heatherc, thanks for your enquiry. If you already have a Bankwest account in joint names, you can open a new joint account over the phone Smiley Happy If not, this must be arranged in store. I understand that this may not be convenient, however these restrictions are in place to strengthen our identification and verification processes, and safeguard our customers. Thank you.

So do we have to already have a joint account to open a joint account? Can you please clarify? I am trying to switch banks to Bankwest but if this is not possible then I will choose another bank

That's correct I'm sorry @heatherc, as both parties would need to be identified in store prior to a joint account being opened. I do apologise for any inconvenience.

I'm sorry to hear you will be closing your account @heatherc. There are a number of ways this can be done for you, as below:
1) We can close the account via a BankMail message request, through the "Message Centre" tab of your Online Banking.
2) You are welcome to call our Contact Centre on 13 17 19.
3) You can use our Secure Online Chat option, through your Online Banking. Just hit the "Chat Now" button at the bottom of your screen, between 7am - 6pm WST Monday – Friday.
Hope this helps.
