Bankwest Easy Transaction $100 overdraft

We have an account with the overdraft that was opened many years ago.


I understand that this overdraft has now been removed from new accounts opened with Bankwest.


My question is, is it possible to have this overdraft removed from existing accounts if it is not needed. I often find my partner overspending because there is money in the account and he thinks it is spare money so am having to constantly keep the account in the -$ to stop him from spending.


This then affects applications we apply for because they see our account constantly overdrawn.

Hi @bethanysmum2002, this is certainly an option for you.


A written request is required for Bankwest to remove the overdraft facility on an account, so you will need to send us a letter containing the below information:

- Full names of all parties to the account
- Account number
- A request to remove the $100 overdraft facility
- Signatures from all parties

You can post the request to:

Bankwest Account Maintenance
PO Box E237
Perth WA 6841
Fax: 1300 664 825


Once this has been received, the overdraft will be removed within 3 business days, and a letter issued to confirm.
