Travelled a year or so ago and tried to use a Bankwest more MasterCard linked to cheque accnt to withdraw foreign cash and it didn’t let me , constant errors on all machines I tried. (Cash advances would work but I want to access my CHq accnt as I do in Perth) Got back to Perth and local branch gave me some bull**bleep** about it doesn’t recognise the link to my CHq accnt as it does in Australia and I have to get a debit card. Get new debit card , activate set pin , travel to bali and **bleep** me it’s the same , despite sssurances from my local branch that it will be fine !!!!! Wtf do I do with this useless card now stuck in Bali !

Hi @Overseasfail, I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble accessing your accounts while overseas. When using your Debit Mastercard linked to your cheque account outside of Australia, you'll just need to ensure you're selecting the 'Credit' option instead of the 'Cheque' option. Please rest assured that this will still debit the funds from the cheque account and not from your credit card. I'm very sorry if the colleague you spoke with in the branch didn't advise you of this step when the Debit Mastercard was ordered.
