Ethical lending and investment practices

The community and investors are starting to pay more attention to how money borrowed from or invested by Australian banks is being used by large corporations. It may be an ethical implication on the environment, human slavery or protecting national interests.

Does Bankwest have an ethicial lending and investment policy?

This is a really interesting and topical subject @cgm - thanks!

At Bankwest we absolutely have strong internal frameworks and policies that guide/govern our lending and investment practices. Also, being part of the Commonwealth Bank Group, we're committed to the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Lending Commitments.

Does this give you a good idea of how we operate in this space?

Those commitments are great @PeteW!  Exactly what I was interested in.

How would Bankwest handle customer concerns, if the customer believed one of these commitments was not met?

Thanks @cgm - this is something else I enjoy about working at Bankwest and being part of the CommBank Group.

If a customer has concerns about these commitments not being met it's a simple case of getting in touch with us and we'll ensure they speak with the right people in the bank to raise their concerns and have the matter investigated.
