Can I deposit a damaged cheque?

I have a cheque that has been ripped throught the code/letters at the bottom. I was told in store they couldnt take it as their scanner wouldn't read it, and I'd need to get a new one off my customer.

Unfortunately I have just found out my customer is away and I won't be able to get a replacement cheque, so is there any way that this cheque can be manually processed?

Hi @szanatta, as we do need to process cheques through our scanner, if a cheque is damaged we can't accept it. The person who gave you the cheque would need to arrange for it to be cancelled and a new one to be issued. Thanks.
